Street Cats and the people who love them… actually it turned out he was a neighbor’s cat. But he was quite taken to me and even followed me up to my door - till his owners snatched him away. I’ll name him Essex II.

skinny pig, a hairless guinea pig

Thanks. I appreciate the response.

I don't know that there's an "official" breed name. They're just called skinny pigs. But be careful! They're relatively short-lived and require specific, demanding care to keep them healthy, comfortable, and free of pain.If you're asking because you want to get one, try to rescue; not having hair actually causes serious problems for guineas, and yet they're so sought-after that they're bred anyway.

I wasn’t getting one, but if I were, I’d definitely rescue. All my pets have always been rescues, except for my cat when I was 7 since I got her as a gift. I wouldn’t ever buy a a puppy from a pet store for example because I feel very strongly against puppy mills. I also have always gotten older pets as they have a harder time getting adopted, except when I fostered Gigi and just fell in love with her so I wouldn’t just punish her and not keep her because her mother wasn’t spayed. It’s so sad that there are so many unwanted animals  and people keep recklessly breeding more only to abandon them when they’re no longer cute or they’re not the “fashionable” breed after all. Rescuing is always the way to go for me and I don’t look for any particular type except the type that needs to be loved.

This guinea pig belongs to a friend, or at least the photo does. She was asking what kind of breed it was, so I posted it here because I figured someone would know and now I know. Thanks for your thoughtful response :D
